The Big Lottery Fund awarded us three years funding for our work with families of children aged 5-13 years. The projects covers all of East Lancashire
The project allows us to support families where children have started school or are at transition stage into high school.
As children grow, parents face different issues and Home-Start in East Lancashire Plus project aims to match families with a volunteer who can support parents through engaging with schools, understanding bullying, drugs, adolescent mental health and the minefield of social media.
Volunteers encourage parents to develop good routines, discipline and communication with their children. Parents are encouraged to work closely with schools to help their child to attend, achieve and enjoy school life. A coordinator, project support worker and dedicated volunteers are there to provide reassurance and empathy.
